Upendra Nath Brahma is fondly known as Bodofa and he is conferred the title Father of Bodo People. Bodofa Upendranath Brahma was a student leader, former President of Central ABSU and famous for his “Non-Violent Bodoland Movement” and slogan “Live and Let Live”.

Birth Anniversary
In respect of the Bodofa Upendra Nath Brahma, the Bodo people celebrate his birth anniversary on 31 March as Poraisa San (Student Day) in the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) and other places whenever it can be done with enthusiasm.
Mainly the All Bodo Student Union (ABSU) and other Bodo organizations celebrate this occasions at Thulungapuri, the burial place of Bodofa in Dotma.
Student Day in Assam
The Assam Government has declared on 26 March 2023 that Bodofa Upendra Nath Brahma Birth Anniversary celebration would be now celebrated through the Assam state by all the educational institutions. This is such a great news for the Bodo people as the State government has bestowed the importance of Bodofa by celebrating statewide. Now the whole state will know who the Bodofa Upendra Nath Brahma is.
