Assam Student Day 2023 Celebration: Assam Students’ Day is regarded as a significant event because it marks the birthday of the former ABSU President and student leader, Upendra Nath Brahma. Entire Assam will celebrate the 31st March as Student Day in all the educational institutes like schools, colleges, universities, etc commemorating the birth of the late Bodofa Upendra Nath Brahma.

Assam Student’s Day is mainly celebrated in Assam on March 31 every year to remember the contribution of former President of Central All Bodo Student Union (ABSU) towards the welfare and uplift of Bodos and other downtrodden communities. The Assam Government in 26 March 2023 officially declared March 31 to honor the late Bodofa Upendra Nath Brahma.
March 31 is celebrated as Students Day to commemorate the birth anniversary of late Bodofa Upendra Nath Brahma, a former President of Central ABSU and famous for his ‘Non-violent Bodoland Movement’ and slogan ‘Live and Let Live’. The day is marked to acknowledge his efforts towards students and contribution towards the welfare of the Bodo community. UN Brahma was born on March 31, 1956.
On 2023, the 67th birth anniversary of Bodofa Upendra Nath Brahma, former president of Central All Bodo Students Union (ABSU) is going to be celebrated as Student’s Day or Chatra Divas across the Assam state on Friday to recall contributions and dedication of Bodofa to the societies.
Student Day in Assam Announcement
The Bodo people since beginning use to celebrate the 31 March as Student Day or ‘Poraisa San’ in Bodo language. The ABSU and other organizations use to organize the Student’s Day/Poraisa San at Dotma Thulunggapuri, the buriel place of Bodofa Upendra Nath Brahma.
But from 31 March 2023 onwards, things have changed for good. The Poraisa San (Student Day) celebration in name of Bodofa will not remain confined to only Bodo, the entire people especially the students of across the Assam state will celebrate it, thanks to the Assam government.
The Government of Assam announced on last Sunday i.e., 26 March 2023 that the Bodofa Birth Anniversary will would be observed as Student Day henceforth in Assam. The Bodofa’s birth anniversary is on 31 March, so 31 March would be celebrated as Student Day or Chatra Divosh in Assam.
The Education Minister of Assam, Ranoj Pegu through twitter wrote that
Government of Assam, in a historic move, dedicates 31st March as *Student Day* to pay tribute to Shri *Upendra Nath Brahma*, the great social reformer, who was born on 31st March 1956. The Students Day will be observed in all educational institutions as special homage to the student leader.
The BTR CEM, Pramod Boro has expressed his happiness and has welcome the state government’s decision and initiative for declaration of 31st March Chatra Divosh or Student’s Day across the state on the birth anniversary of Bodofa Upendra Nath Brahma. He also shared the clips of Assam CM, Himanta Biswa speaking about the Student Day celebration in the name of Bodofa. Through twitter, he wrote that
